Practice EKG Rhythm Strips 229

Identify the following rhythms.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Answers

1.
1st degree AV block

The rhythm is regular with a heart rate of 65/min.   There is one P wave for every QRS complex. The PR interval is prolonged.  No ectopic beats are seen.   PR:  .36 sec,  QRS:  .12 sec, QT:  .46 sec.  Interpretation:  1st degree AV block

2.
Agonal rhythm

The rhythm is slow with a rate of 20/min.   There are no P waves.   The QRS complexes are wide.   PR:  ---,  QRS:  .16 sec.  QT:  .44 sec.   Interpretation:  Agonal rhythm

3.
Atrial fibrillation with a couplet

The rhythm is irregular with a rate of 60/min.   The P waves are absent.   The is some fibrillation seen between the QRS complexes.  The 3rd and 4th complexes form a couplet.   PR:  ---,  QRS:  .10 sec.  QT:  .36 sec.  Interpretation:  Atrial fibrillation with a couplet

4.
Accelerated junctional rhythm

The rhythm is regular with a rate of 65/min.  The P waves are negative.   The QRS complex is narrow.   No ectopic complexes are seen.  PR:  .16 sec,  QRS:  .08 sec,  QT:  .44 sec. Interpretation:  Accelerated junctional rhythm

5.
Normal sinus rhythm with a PAC

The rhythm is irregular.  The rate is 80/min.   The P waves are paired with a QRS complex and are upright.   The QRS complex is narrow.   The 4th complex is a PAC. The P wave of the PAC has some slight morphological differences from the P waves of sinus origin.  PR:  .12 sec.  QRS:  .08 sec.  QT:  .40 sec.  Interpretation:  Normal sinus rhythm with a PAC
