Answers
1. d. Atrial fibrillation with uniform PVCs
2. c. Atrial flutter with a PVC
3. b. Sinus tachycardia with PJCs (note: analysis is based upon the fact that there is no change in the character or morphology of the T waves that precede the premature beat. At this rate the premature P waves of a PAC would be hidden within the T wave of the preceding beat and would thus change the amplitude of that T wave. By comparison, in rhythm strip 4 you can see how the premature beat changes the characteristic of the preceding T wave.)
4. e. Sinus rhythm with PACs
5. c. Sinus rhythm with quadrigeminal PVCs
6. a. NSR with multiform PVCs
A small variation in the morphology exists.
7. a. Sinus rhythm with 4 beat run of VT
8. b. 1st degree block with multifocal PVCs
9. c. Sinus tachycardia with unifocal PVCs
10. d. NSR with a PAC and some escape beats Note that the first escape beat occurs late in the cardiac rhythm and that the P wave is different from the other sinus beats. The P wave is actually merged with the R wave of the QRS complex giving it a delta wave appearance (Delta waves are found in what rhythm?) The second late beat does not have a P wave. These escape mechanisms take over when the sinus node fails to fire. See strip below.
